Welcome to our healthy recipes blog! During cookery lessons, the government’s Eatwell Guide is our constant point of reference, echoing the Mediterranean diet that underpins the Tickled Fig approach.
Tickled Fig cookery lessons look towards healthy-eating initiatives such as the 5 a day challenge, incorporating as much fruit and vegetables into our cookery as possible, reducing salt intake and swapping sugar or other less healthy choices for more health-conscious options. Through our blog we are happy to share with you recipes that have been tried, tested and perfected by our clients whether they are participating in group lessons or private tuition. Where possible we offer advice on how to scale a meal up or down, and advice on how to freeze additional portions so that you can enjoy a home-cooked meal even if you haven’t cooked that day! Tickled Fig aims to make cooking from scratch fun, efficient and affordable. We encourage you to buy from local producers (grocer, fishmonger and butcher) and to work with recipes where the ingredients are seasonally available.
